In this issue, we seek to capture the spirit of spring with tales of optimism and hope. You'll recall that, amid the darkness of the pandemic, many positives emerged - communities came together through the bleakest times many have encountered.

Dundee Photographer Dylan Drummond set out to capture on film the incredible acts of kindness people displayed. We tell his story on page 62, along with a celebration of some of the local heroes from around the country who are making a difference. It's uplifting stuff.

Elsewhere, we tell of how Muhannas Helmi and his family fled war-torn Syria for sanctuary in Scotland. Welcomed by the community in Greenock, they're building a business and a life in their new homeland.

Also, Scotland and Rangers legend Ally McCoist speaks of his hopes for the national football team in their crunch World Cup paly-offs. The former centre-forward believes we can qualify for the tournament for the first time in 24 years.
